ADA Compliance Statement
Please report areas of our site that may not be accessible here.

American with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) is a federal piece of legislation that prohibits discrimination based on disability. We will be following the guidelines set out by LSU that are conducive to a website that is ADA compliant. These guidelines include:
-
Using uniformed header tags (h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6). These header tags should not be used as a means to style text.
-
Avoiding all caps.
-
Using lists.
-
Noting the value in using unordered lists and sequential lists.
-
Using block-quotes only for quoted text
-
Links should be clearly labeled. Generic labels like “click here” should be avoided.
-
Avoiding redundant links. Do not link both an image and the adjacent text to the same URL.
-
Enabling compliant PDFs. The link for a PDF should open in a new window and the link should indicate that the browser is downloading a PDF.
-
Tables should not be used to style.
-
Videos should be captioned and a text-transcript available for the hearing impaired.
-
Images conveying meaning should have alternative text.
-
All PDF, DOCX, and PPTX files published should also be accessible.
